2001-2002 School of Excellence

At a celebration for all school staff members Mountain View Elementary School received the School of Excellence Award for the third year.

Ms. Lyn McElwee, Principal, and all school employees were presented awards by School Board Members Mrs. Lucy Beauchamp and Mr. Don Richardson, Dr. Edward L. Kelly, and Mrs. Alison Nourse-Miller, Associate Superintendent.

Mr. Richardson displays a commemorative cup which was presented to all employees.

Mr. Bruce McDaniel, Ms. McElwee, Ms. Moss Webb accepted a School of Excellence commemorative flag on behalf of Mountain View Elementary at a school board awards ceremony.

Some of the reasons Mountain View Elementary was selected as a School of Excellence are:

• Mountain View Elementary maintains a strong family atmosphere -- starting with bus drivers making sure children arrive to school safely and administrators who greet the students as they start their day. 
• The focus is on teaching and continual assessment -- identifying academic skills which require extra emphasis across every grade level.

• Staff puts in long hours – and are always thinking outside the box -- “what is best for our children?”
