2001-2002 School of Excellence

At a celebration for all school employees Westridge Elementary School received the School of Excellence Award for the second year.

Ms. Joan Wilson, Principal of Westridge Elementary School, was presented a plaque, a replica of a flag and a cash award for the school by Mrs. Lucy Beauchamp.

All school employees were presented awards by Dr. Edward L. Kelly, Associate Superintendent Kris Pederson, Mrs. Beauchamp, and other school board members and Associate Superintendents.

Ms. Wilson accepted a School of Excellence commemorative flag on behalf of Westridge Elementary School at a school board awards ceremony.

Some of the reasons Westridge Elementary was selected as a School of Excellence are:

• At Westridge Elementary, staff, teachers, and parents have high expectations and a willingness to work together to support their children in reaching their potential. 
• There is strong parental support, motivated students who have few discipline problems, and a high number of volunteers, tutors, and mentors. 

• There is an atmosphere of time-on-task balanced with the fun of learning.

• Teachers and staff have effective instructional and classroom management skills as well as the capacity for caring about their students.
