Woodbridge Middle School received the School of Excellence Award for the first time this year at a celebration for school staff.

Ms. Judy Warme, principal of Woodbridge Middle School, was presented awards by Mrs. Lucy Beauchamp and Dr. Edward Kelly.

In the two pictures above, employees were congratulated by Dr. Kelly, Associate Superintendents Wayne Mallard, Kris Pedersen, Pam Gauch, W. Ashby Birchette, Alison Nourse-Miller, and William Hundley, Coles District SB member.

Ms. Warme accepted a School of Excellence commemorative flag on behalf of Woodbridge Middle School at a school board awards ceremony.

Some of the reasons Woodbridge Middle School was selected as a School of Excellence are:

  • At Woodbridge Middle School, the staff identifies all incoming sixth graders with academic weaknesses and facilitates the transition of all new students by holding a “Seminole Camp” in August for parents and sixth graders.
  • Staff training includes data analysis, and dedicated faculty meetings are held to review data and share successful instructional practices.
  • Students are provided after-school tutoring, workshops on test-taking, a ten-day review session in math and reading, and many other supportive activities.
