Achievements which enabled Rockledge to be selected as a School of Excellence were the following:
- At Rockledge, staff implemented shared scheduling, with primary teachers forfeiting their planning time to work with small groups of students.
Staff initiated a differentiated reading program that included the best of whole language and phonetic instructional techniques.
The school involved parents and senior citizens in tutoring programs for needy students.
