Julie C. Lucas has served on the Prince William County School Board since October, 2002, and was elected to a four-year term in November 2003 and re-elected in November 2007. Ms. Lucas is the president and owner of Lucas Financial Group, an independent financial services company.
She specializes in helping clients plan for retirement, college education, estate planning, as well as insurance planning with life, health, disability, and long-term care needs.
Ms. Lucas helped all Virginians by changing the insurance law to allow companies to provide chronic illness riders to insurance policies. House Bill 1294 (2002) was drafted per her suggestion. Ms. Lucas single handedly, successfully lobbied the Virginia General Assembly to make this bill law.
Before entering the financial services industry, Ms. Lucas taught government and economics to high school seniors. She graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a B.A. in political science.
She serves on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club and had been honored by receiving the Woman and Youth award, and the “Positive Place” award. Ms. Lucas is the Chairman of Administrative and Youth Services for the Woodbridge Kiwanis Club. She is also a member of the Occoquan District Committee for the Boy Scouts of America, the American Business Women’s Association, and Dale City Civic Association. Ms. Lucas is a former appointee to the PWC School Board Career and Technical Education Advisory Board.
