Mr. Lattin served more than twenty years in the United States Marine Corps as an artillery and JAG officer. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1995. He now maintains a local law office concentrating on military and veterans law.

Mr. Lattin served on the Advisory Council at Antietam Elementary School, as a science fair judge and a church administrator and teacher, as well as a committee chair for The Bar Association of the District of Columbia. He was awarded the Navy-Marine Corps Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards) and two Certificates of Appreciation from the Bar Association.
