ENTERING KINDERGARTEN
As a part of your regular
routine of reading with your child, choose one book from each of the
following five categories. (5 books total)
1. Read any ALPHABET BOOK, such as
Anamalia Graeme Base
-These books help to
introduce the letters of the alphabet as well as sounds associated with each
letter.
2. Read any COUNTING BOOK, such as

-These books integrate number
and counting skills with good literature.

Read any NURSERY RHYME BOOK, such as

learn about rhyming and ending sounds of words.
4. Read any SERIES BOOK, such as
“Bright and Early Books for Beginning Readers” (such as

“I Can Read It All By Myself”
(such as Go Dog, Go)
Curious George books H.A. Rey
-These books have lots of
repetition and basic sight words to help your child with kindergarten skills.
5. Read any FAVORITE AUTHOR BOOK, such as

Write a summary including character, setting and plot
with the title and author listed. Summer
Quest forms can be substituted instead of summaries.
