Dr. Babur B. Lateef elected Prince William County School Board ChairmanBased on unofficial results from the Virginia Department of Elections, Babur B. Lateef, M.D. has been elected Chairman At-Large for the Prince William County School Board. Lateef earned 61,520 votes, or 48.22 percent. Alyson Satterwhite earned 53,466 or 41.91 percent, and Stanley Bender earned 12,331 votes, or 9.67 percent. Election results will need to be certified by the General Registrar for the Prince William County Board of Elections and by the State Board of Elections.

The Prince William County School Board appointed Lateef Interim Chairman At-Large last April. The position became available after the resignation of Chairman Ryan Sawyers in early March.

Lateef is a physician and owner of Advanced Ophthalmology, Inc. in Woodbridge. He and his wife, Dr. Tarannum Lateef, have four children in Prince William County Public Schools. He is a member of the Board of Directors of SPARK, the education foundation for PWCS. He is also a PTO member at Marshall Elementary School, Benton Middle School, and Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.

Lateef is a graduate of Youngstown State University and Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. He also serves as an assistant clinical professor at George Washington University.
