Denise Huebner named associate superintendent for special education and student servicesPrince William County Public Schools (PWCS) has named Denise Huebner as associate superintendent for Special Education and Student Services, effective July 1, 2019. Huebner has nearly 30 years of experience as an educator. She has served as a level associate, principal at the preschool, elementary, and middle school levels, and as a special education educator at the high school and elementary level. Huebner currently serves as the PWCS Associate Superintendent for Eastern Elementary Schools.

Huebner will oversee the Office of Special Education, Office of Student Management and Alternative Programs (OSMAP), and Office of Student Services including School Age Child Care (SACC), School Health Services, and Counseling.

“Student health and wellbeing, and special education are my highest priorities,” said Dr. Steve Walts, Superintendent of Schools. “Ms. Huebner’s extensive knowledge of PWCS, coupled with her extensive experience in special education classrooms and in administrative management will be invaluable in this role. I am confident her leadership will bring rapid continuous improvement in these critical areas.”

Huebner holds certifications in Administration and Supervision, Pre-K – 12; Specific Learning Disabilities, K – 12; and Intellectual Disabilities, K – 12. Huebner has been a leader in implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), treatment integrity implementation, and functional behavior assessment and behavior intervention plan development.

Huebner holds a Master of Education from Regent University and earned her bachelor’s degree, majoring in special education, at Northern Illinois University. She joined PWCS as a teacher at Signal Hill Elementary in 2005, and served as assistant principal at Yorkshire Elementary before becoming principal of Marshall Elementary in 2011. During much of her tenure at Marshall, Huebner also served as principal of Woodbine Preschool. She was named principal of Benton Middle School in 2015. Since 2017 she has served as Associate Superintendent for Eastern Elementary Schools, overseeing 17 PWCS elementary schools.
