Saturday, March 28, 2009 - 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Student art work from every county school, grades K through 12, will be on display throughout Woodbridge High School in all hallways on both floors, the gym lobby and the gymnasium. Performances from with music, theatre, and dance ensembles from PWC elementary, middle, and high schools will be presented throughout the day in the main auditorium.

Please mark your calendar for this special event. Come and enjoy a celebration of student artists, musicians, actors, and dancers in Prince William County Schools.

OFF THE WALL ART AND POETRY FESTIVAL

"Growth," Meranda Lattance

"Off the Wall," the annual high school Student Art and Poetry Festival, recognized the award winners at a reception on Saturday, January 10, 2009. Sponsored by Lockheed Martin, the Festival celebrated its fifth anniversary at the Center for the Arts in Old Town Manassas. Winning artists in the visual art category were: Meranda Lattance, first place: "Growth" from Brentsville HS; Raechel Hurd, second place: "Study of Brothers Dirt Bike," from Battlefield HS; and Caleb Fletcher, third place: "Reclaimer," from Brentsville HS. Honorable mention went to: Caleb Fletcher for "Untitled" and "Tractor at Sunrise;" Heather Kaehler from Brentsville HS for "Reflection;" Courtney Liddle from Battlefield HS for "Waterloo;" and Emily Roberts from Brentsville HS for "Eat, Drink & Be Merry."

 

2009 Water Art Invitational

Prince William County high school art students were asked to create their own artistic representations of "the value of water" for the Prince William County Service Authority's 2009 Water Art Invitiational. The contest rules required students to visually portray drinking water in four categories: painting, color photography, black and white photography and computer graphics. More than 260 art pieces were submitted for consideration which is the largest number received in the seven-year history of the event. The winners were announced at the award reception on February 12 by Service Authority Board member Janice Carr. The winners were as follows: Painting - First place: Erin Fillers, Woodbridge High School; Second place: Noe Landaverde, Freedom High School; and Third place: Sompaseuth Choulamany, Brentsville High School. Color Photography - First place: Jackie Turner, Battlefield High School; Second place: Jessica Kiser, Osbourn Park High School; and Third place: Maryam Nahidian, Battlefield High School. Black and White Photography - First place: Sarah Mirabel, Battlefield High School; Second place: Yuxian Liu, Freedom High School; and Third place: Jennifer Ling, Osbourn Park High School. Graphic Design - First place: Zack Owen, Forest Park High School; Second place: Jorge Guillen, Hylton High School; and Third place: Shannon Chambers, Battlefield High School.
