Safe Driving Rodeo

 

The Safe Driving Rodeo is an annual demonstration and competition of student driver skills. Students are tested in three key areas: range skills, on-road skills, and written knowledge. Driver education students representing each high school in the county are selected to participate with the opportunity to represent the School Division is a state contest in May. This year's contest was held on April 17, 2009 at Gar-Field High School. Five students will be attending the Virginia Association for Driver Education and Traffic Safety Contest which will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009 in Newport News, Virginia.

 

Virginia Association for Driver Education and Traffic Safety Contest

For the eighth consecutive year, PWCS students dominated a safe driving competition held in Newport News this month. The competitors, who were from Osbourn Park High School, had advanced from the county competition. Coached by JoEllen Suter, driver education teacher at Osbourn Park, the team competed against the top high school drivers in the state at the Virginia Association of Driver Education and Traffic Safety Contest (VADETS) and brought home six out of the eight trophies up for grabs.
