Excellent Schools Are Everyone’s Business
Message from the President, Ms. Amy Harris of Micron Technology
The Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) Education Foundation believes that it takes the combined efforts of the entire community to truly help students achieve and succeed.
Celebrating 20 Years of Supporting Local, Public Education
Founded in 1989, the PWCS Education Foundation has spent the last 20 years working with Prince William County Public Schools to support student achievement. As Board members, we engage local businesses and community partners to fund and promote initiatives that enhance educational excellence.
Nearly Half a Million Dollars for Innovative Programs
Supported by donations from local businesses, the PWCS Education Foundation has been able to provide nearly 100 grants to Prince William County teachers and schools, as well as to School Division departments, staff, and offices, through our “Innovative Grants” program. Thanks to the generosity of our community, the Foundation has provided more than $444,000 in grant funding for this program since 1999, which allows schools and departments to implement programs that would not be possible otherwise.
Transforming the Way Our Schools Communicate
The Foundation will continue to support the use of SchoolFusion, a one-of-a-kind Web site solution, in all 88 Division schools. This easy-to-use, online communications tool gives parents and students instant access to classroom information, student records, lessons, assignments, and more. The tool will also allow parents to link each of their PWCS students into one “my family” account showing information and activities for all of their children in one place, making it easier than ever for them to stay involved and engaged in their children’s education.
Honoring Past Leaders by Creating Future Ones
The PWCS Education Foundation is also fortunate to provide the Dr. Edward L. Kelly Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Michele D. Wickham Endowment Fund as additional ways to support local public education. To date, ten students have received money from the Dr. Edward L. Kelly Memorial Scholarship Fund to pursue a career in teaching.
Get Involved
We invite you to offer support for the Foundation’s initiatives and help provide opportunities for PWCS students to reach their greatest potential. Your involvement will be tremendously rewarding to you and to our community’s students. Call us at 703.791.8001 or visit www.PWCSEdFoundation.org to find out more.
Together, we can inspire the students of Prince William County Public Schools and prepare them for a bright and successful future.
Sincerely,

Amy Harris
President
Prince William County Public Schools Education Foundation

enrolled in 88 schools and education centers. Of the total student population,
59% are minorities, 10% are gifted, 12% require special education,

at universities,
colleges, and other schools after graduation.
All PWCS schools are accredited
by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), as well as by the State Board of Education. Last year, "Newsweek" ranked eight Prince William high schools among the top 1,100 schools in the United States. Stonewall Jackson High School, considered one of the top high schools by "Newsweek" in 2003, was named by "Time" as the best high school in America in 2001. Specialty programs have been created
in 35 schools, from elementary through high school, to prepare students
for specialization in specific career fields.

is a high performance organization, receiving the Medallion of Excellence,
U.S. Senate Productivity and Quality Award, and a host of other distinguished
awards. The School Division is nationally known for its system of school-based
management, which places decision-making and accountability at the school
level.
Through their generous contributions
of time, talent, and resources, members of the business community provide
tutors, mentors, and classroom speakers; offer internships and job shadowing
for students; donate supplies and funds; and make a myriad of other contributions
to the education of children in Prince William County.
The PWCS Education Foundation is
proud to support Prince William County Public Schools' vision of providing a World-Class Education. Join us today and help us show how "Excellent Schools are Everyone's Business."
