“NGs” and Twelve Week Exploratory Grading

All twelve week exploratory arts classes; i.e., Art, Technology Education, Family and Consumer Science, operate on a different grade reporting timeline than other classes.  For some interim and marking period grading report cards, students will automatically receive a grade of “NG” (No Grade).  This is because the twelve week exploratory classes reach a midpoint and endpoint during their grading cycle at different times than other classes.  Ongoing student progress can be monitored through our Edulink System. Visit this link: http://www.pwcs.edu/FredLynn/intouch.html to register.

Students will receive a final grade on their report card for each exploratory according to the following schedule:

1st Twelve Week Rotation
Interim 1 – NG
Marking Period 1 – NG
*Marking Period 2 – Final Grade Given

2nd Twelve Week Rotation
Interim 2 – NG
Interim 3 – NG
*Marking Period 3 – Final Grade Given

3rd Twelve Week Rotation
Interim 4 – NG
*Marking Period 4 – Final Grade Given

IN-Touch Online

The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) would like to to remind parents about the school-parent communication devices that can used to keep up with your child’s grades, attendance, test scores, and much more.

The first device is the Fred Lynn Homework Hotline (703.490.4360) allows you to listen to your child’s teacher as he/she gives the class day assignments or home work assignments. Teachers update the Hotline weekly.
Parents can also use another tool IN-Touch Online, to see their student’s information online. This includes period attendance, assignment grades for each class, emergency information, if lunch fees are running out, and more. It also gives you an e-mail link to your child’s teachers. Registering for InTouch Online is done through the Internet. Visit this link: http://www.pwcs.edu/FredLynn/intouch.html.

Some individual teachers have their own web sites, as well, hosted by companies such as SchoolNotes. You’ll find a list of those teachers on the FLMS website at: http://www.pwcs.edu/FredLynn/staffPages.html.

The FLMS Agenda book is an excellent communication tool. Your child should bring it home everyday. There is a section labeled parent-teacher comments at the bottom of the calendar pages. Use those to find out what is happening in school or in a particular class. Let us know how we can assist you and your child in making this a very productive year.
