MWES Discipline Plan and the Prince William County Schools CODE OF BEHAVIOR
By supporting these rules and our efforts, you will help us insure that a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment is available to all of our students.
Arrival: The instructional day will begin after the second bell rings at 9:10 AM. Students will be allowed to enter the building when the first bell rings at 9:00 AM. Students choosing to eat breakfast will be allowed to enter the cafeteria at 8:55 AM. Students should not be dropped off at school earlier than 8:55 as there will be no adult supervision. Students arriving after 9:10 must be accompanied to the office to pick up a tardy pass before going to their classroom.
Dismissal: Student dismissal will begin at 3:40 PM with bus riders. Walkers and car riders will be dismissed as soon as all busses have loaded and cleared the bus circle. Early dismissals must be signed out from the office. Identification will need to be presented when picking up students.
Visitors/Security: All staff, visitors, and volunteers are required to wear a badge or visitor sticker when in the building. Upon entering the school, all visitors must report to the office where they will sign in, leave a photo I.D. and obtain a dated visitor's badge. There will be no exceptions to this rule. All exterior doors, except the main front entrance, will remain locked during school hours.
Lunch: Parents and family members are welcomed and encouraged to join students for lunch. The cafeteria should be a place where students and their guests can sit and eat without excessive noise and with minimal disruptions. Therefore, students and their guests are expected to use proper lunchroom manners. Students are to remain seated and raise their hands for assistance when needed. The cafeteria hostess will be available to assist students and their guests. Visiting is encouraged, but only with those at the table where the student is seated. Please, quiet voices only.
Dress Code: Pleae visit the dress code section of this website for important information. Thank you.
Fighting/Profanity/Weapons: There will be ZERO TOLERANCE for fighting, use of profanity, and weapons. Weapons, whether real, toy, or look-alike are expressly forbidden in all schools. The PWC School Board has established and strictly adheres to a zero-tolerance weapons policy.
Toys: No toys or collectible items are to be brought to school. This includes electronic games, electronic music devices, sports equipment, and trading cards/items. These items create distractions and disrupt the learning process in the classroom.
Bus Behavior: Students are expected to maintain proper behavior when riding the bus. Bus riding is a privilege that can be revoked if behavior is not satisfactory.
We greatly appreciate your support and attention to these rules. Working together, we can ensure that the children of Mary Williams Elementary School will receive a quality education in a safe and comfortable learning community. Thank you for sharing your sons and daughters with us. |
