What's Happening at Mary F. Williams Elementary |
His Majesty King Leruo Molotlegi of the Royal Bafokeng Nation
The Royal Bafokeng Nation is the ethnic homeland of the Bafokeng people. The nation covers 795 square miles in the North West Province of South Africa. Its population is 300,000. The administrative capital is Phokeng. His Majesty visited Mary F. Williams on May 13th because he is interested in our award winning food service program. Also joining His Majesty on his trip to our school was The Honorable Eric M. Bost, Ambassador to South Africa, and members of His Majesty's Royal staff. Mr. Roberto Salazar and members of his staff from the USDA also attended. Dr. Walts, Betty Covington, Dr. Michael Otaigbe, Mr. Keith Imon and Mr. Ken Blackstone from Prince William County Schools were also present. We thank all of these people for visiting our school and giving our students memories that will last a life time.

Carson Opela Says “Yes” to Reading
Join us in congratulating Carson Opela for his first place finish in the national essay contest “Say Yes to Reading” sponsored by Boys Life Magazine. The Boy Scout magazine states that “we received an avalanche of entries for the 20th annual contest.” Carson’s first place winning essay was based on the book The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. He liked this book so much because both he and the main character love to use their imaginations. Winning a nationwide contest is a tremendous honor and we are all very proud of Carson’s outstanding achievement. To see Carson’s complete essay visit www.boyslife.org. Check out The Phantom Tollbooth from our Williams’ library and see if you like it as much as Carson did.
