First Grade Supply List 2008-09

Welcome to first grade at McAuliffe Elementary School. We look forward to seeing your child next year. We hope you have a relaxing and fun summer. Don’t forget to sign up for Summer Quest at the library - what a great way to be rewarded for reading. We hope that you will do lots of reading with your child this summer.

Here is the supply list of the majority of supplies for next year. These are the supplies that all the first grades have in common. This is to help you get started picking up the basic supplies. At the Open House in August or on the first day of school, you will receive a list of any additional supplies requested by your child’s teacher.

If you are purchasing a new backpack for your child we would appreciate if you do not get the kind with wheels and the long handle. We do not send home heavy books for homework and the storage of this kind of backpack is a problem.

· 1 pair child-sized Fiskar scissors with pointed end

· 1 4-oz bottle of white school glue

· 12 glue sticks

· 2 boxes crayons (24 count)

· 1 ream of white duplicating or printer paper

· 1 box of tissues

· 10 black low odor non-toxic dry erase markers

· 1 dry erase eraser

· 1 package colored pencils (sharpened)

· 1 plastic pocket folder (Plastic is important as cardboard or paper folders will not make it through the year) Pockets should be at the bottom and not the sides.

· 1 marble composition notebook

Please write your child’s name on the scissors, glue bottle, glue sticks and boxes of crayons, dry erase markers, box of colored pencils, eraser and folder.
