Catherine “Pat” Puttre was appointed Middle School Associate Superintendent in July 2008. She was a middle school teacher for 21 years before becoming Assistant Principal of Saunders Middle School in 1991. From 1997 to 2008, she served as Principal of Saunders. During that time, the school was recognized as a Model School by the International Center for Leadership in Education, a School to Watch by the National Forum for Middle School Reform, and a PWCS School of Excellence. Saunders was also cited in Breaking Ranks in the Middle by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. Dr. Puttre is an adjunct instructor at Old Dominion University.

Dr. Puttre completed her bachelor’s degree in English at Queens College, City University of New York. She received her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction and her doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
