Three county schools top the list of the 2012 Schools of Excellence this year, earning a perfect score of 100. Mountain View Elementary School, Porter Traditional School, and Victory Elementary School are among the 40 elementary and middle schools named in the Division’s annual school awards program.

A School of Excellence must be fully accredited by the state, meet Virginia academic Annual Measurable Objectives, and achieve an overall score of 90 out of 100 points on PWCS Strategic Plan-based measures. Strategic Plan measures include student achievement, climate, and student health. Selection is based on performance in the 2011–12 school year. The School of Excellence distinction is the highest recognition awarded to a school by the Prince William County School Board.

 

Winning schools that have attained the distinction this year are listed below, with the number of repeated awards following the school name. Awards will be celebrated at school sites beginning in January. The celebrations will recognize the contributions of the entire school community in achieving the School of Excellence designation. As in the past, schools earning this honor will be presented with commemorative flags and plaques at their school-based celebrations.
