Public Hearing: No citizens addressed the School Board about the proposed boundary attendance areas for the Sudley area elementary schools.
The School Board Approved:
Policies and Regulations:
First review of revisions to Policy 305, “Procurement Card Management.” (No action is required on first reading.)
Citizen’s Comments:
Eric Levenberry Jr., a senior at Hylton High School, addressed the School Board by thanking them for his great education. He stated that athletics and education complement each other and both are important; football doesn’t last very long and education does. Among his many accomplishments, Eric was selected for First Team for All-State Football by the Virginia High School Coaches Association. He also received a full ride football scholarship to Florida State University.
Superintendent’s Time:
Dr. Steven L. Walts, Superintendent of Schools, made the following comments:
Twenty of our teachers have earned National Board Certification, with five of those teachers earning their 10-year re-certification. The voluntary certification process is a rigorous, performance-based assessment of skills and content knowledge that takes one to three years to complete. National Board Certification is the highest credential available to American educators. More details are available on our Web site.
January 20 through January 26 is School Principals Week in Virginia. This is a time to honor and thank our principals who are among the greatest educational leaders in the Commonwealth.
