Spring Food Drive Aids Local Friends and Neighbors
March 1, 2013
Food—the most basic need—is in short supply in many homes in Prince William County; more so in these difficult economic times. The next time you shop, please consider helping our local food pantries, where those in need can get food when their resources are depleted.
The Prince William County Public School Division (PWCS) annual food drive to benefit ACTS and SERVE ( the Manassas campus of Northern Virginia Family Service), is under way now to support our local community. Schools and administrative offices will have collection boxes on site until April 9.
A donation of one single item from each student and staff member in PWCS to these two local nonprofits can significantly impact their assistance to county residents in need. Both ACTS and SERVE operate food pantries within Prince William County. According to each organization, requests for their services have greatly increased.
Suggestions for food donations include nonperishable items such as cold cereal, canned meats (tuna & chicken), beans (dry & canned), rice,
pasta, spaghetti sauce, soups, macaroni and cheese, and canned fruits and vegetables.
