Prince William County Public Schools earns highest honor in financial reportingThe Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada has awarded the School Division a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for fiscal year 2018. This is the 17th consecutive year PWCS has received this prestigious award.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. The attainment of this award represents a significant accomplishment for the staff and a valuable service to county residents.

“I’m very proud of the staff for all their hard work and dedication to excellence,” shared Lisa Thorne, director of financial services.

The CAFR is prepared in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the GFOA. The goal of the program is not to assess the financial health of participating governments, but rather to ensure that users of their financial statements have the information they need to do so themselves.
