Jonathan Bukva, health and physical education teacher, athletic director, and archery coach at Ronald Wilson Reagan Middle School, has been recognized as a Certified Master Athletic Administrator by the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA)Bukva was also recently appointed to the Board of Directors for the Virginia Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association as the middle school committee chair. 

 

Jonathan is one of a very elite group of interscholastic athletic administrators nationwide to attain this level of professionalism,” said Dr. Michael Blackburn, executive director for the NIAAA. 

 

Bukva is the first in the School Division to earn this distinction and is among only 33 in Virginia and approximately 1,000 across the U.S. to hold the CMAA certification for athletic directors. The master certification process involves advanced education and experience in the field, including NIAA leadership courses and other professional contributions, and culminates in a written and oral evaluation.

 

The NIAAA is a national professional organization consisting of all 50 state athletic administrator associations and more than 12,000 individual members. It is dedicated to promoting the professional growth of high school athletic administrators and preserving the educational nature of interscholastic athletics and the place of these programs in the secondary school curriculum.
