About Us
The PACE
East Program has a
seventeen year history of assisting Prince William County
students and
students from surrounding jurisdictions to learn to their
fullest potential. The school's name P.A.C.E., "Positive
Attitude and Commitment to Education" essentially reflects our
vision and mission and is part of every student's educational
experience. The approach towards education is a holistic
approach. Thus, we not only provide curriculum instruction in
core academic areas but also vocational and social skills
training.
Over the years, PACE has attracted some of
the brightest talent in the region. The staff is highly qualified to provide
both a curriculum and educational support programming. With small classroom sizes,
students are afforded the individualized approaches that are
tailored to their specific needs.
Our goal is to provide a quality education
to all of our students. Moreover, it is also our goal to involve parents
as active members in their student's education. We believe
that these two key components remain essential to our tradition of
excellence at the PACE East Program.
Program Description
The PACE East Program is a separate public day program for
students with emotional disturbance (ED). The program serves
students with disabilities between the ages of 5-22. The PACE
East Program utilizes a curriculum based on PWCS and state
standards as well as supplemental curriculum, established by
the Individualized Education Program (IEP) and leading to a
diploma. The PACE East Program is made up of High School,
Middle School, and Elementary School classrooms.
The classes have been designed to meet the
instructional/behavioral needs of students identified as ED.
The goal of ED classes is to improve learning in the
classroom by creating a highly structured environment
focusing on learning appropriate replacement behaviors while
continuing to develop academic skills. The PACE East Program
also provides close supervision, small classroom sizes, a
strong core curriculum, frequent counseling, social skills
training, and positive behavior interventions. Also see
Eligibility.
