Advantages of Online Learning

The VHS@PWCS delivers high-quality courses aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning.   We encourage students to take these courses to work ahead, recover credit, fulfill electives, or otherwise fulfill course requirements.
Some advantages of taking an online class are:

  • flexibility
  • ability to receive a full credit in one semester
  • low teacher-student ratio
  • ability to work during your "best time to learn"
  • fewer barriers and distractions

Online learning courses tend to be
very work intensive.   Most students who have taken a course from the VHS @ PWCS have commented that online courses are excellent, but require at least as much, if not more time than a traditional classroom course. Although the courses require a real commitment, most students find they receive   a great deal of one on one instruction, and often learn more in this environment.

Our goals are to:
  • Increase flexibility of the learning environment to help students manage and organize their best time to learn.
  • Enable students to learn at their own pace, fulfill course requirements, and achieve academic success.
  • Increase Virginia Standards of Learning scores for participating students.
