| ABOUT GLENKIRK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL |
Glenkirk Elementary opened in the Fall, of 2005. The name selection was made through a committee process. The name was chosen because Glenkirk Road, which runs beside the school, dates from the Civil War era. The boundary for Glenkirk incorporated students from three existing schools, Alvey, Bristow Run, and Tyler.
Communities Served: Glenkirk Elementary serves the Gainesville community. Subdivisions include: Broad Run Oaks, Brookside, Bridlewood, Glenkirk Estates, Innisbrook, Linton Crest, Morris Farms, and Virginia Oaks and Sarana |
| SPECIAL PROGRAMS |
Glenkirk Elementary has an ESOL center to serve students who have English as a second language. We have autism and preschool handicapped classes for students with special needs as well as Learning Disabilities and speech. Glenkirk focuses on literacy in all areas: math, science, language and social studies.

| ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS & EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES |
Glenkirk has a walking club, a Spanish club, a cheerleading club, an art club, two choruses (the Singing Knights and the Golden Pages), Student Council and Safety Patrols.
Glenkirk Elementary plays host for Boy Scout and Girl Scout programs and multiple Prince William County Parks and Recreation programs. Our dedicated music teacher, Mrs. Nancy Anderson, has two choruses the Golden Pages for the 2nd-3rd graders and the Goldent Knight featuring the 4th and 5th graders. Their performances are world class! |
| OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENT & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT |
| The school has a very active PTO that hosts monthly Spirit Nights, Family Fun Nights, Market Day, and a Spring Fling. We have a strong volunteer program that includes classroom support, clerical work and training for direct interaction in remediating students with reading difficulties. We also have a Teacher Parent Advisory Council that represents every grade and subdivision that helps us consider our strategic plan and plan for our improvement. Lastly, we have a PEP (Parents as Educational Partners) class for parents who have English as a Second Language. PEP introduces them to English as it applies to the school situation. while their students are receiving extra help during a homework club. |

Glenkirk Elementary is a place where everyone wants to be and when they are here they are their best. We are collaboratively focused on providing high standards of student achievement in a safe welcoming environment to ensure lifelong success for our students. We are focused on literacy in all areas of the curriculum and the success of our students is paramount.
