ABOUT BEL AIR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Bel Air Elementary School BuildingBel Air Elementary School is named after Bel Air Plantation, an historical landmark in Prince William County.  The school opened in November 1968, as home construction boomed along Dale Boulevard in Dale City.

Bel Air Elementary School is fully accredited by the Virginia State Department of Education.

Bel Air Elementary School promotes academic excellence in a safe, caring learning environment through the collaboration of staff, family, and community.

Forestdale, Darbydale, Cloverdale, and Barksdale sections of Dale City.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS

Bel Air provides services to "at risk" students, English Speakers of Other Languages, Breakthrough to Literacy in kindergarten. Special education classes include, ED I (emotionally disturbed), and EMR I & II (Educable Mentally Retarded).

Bel Air's Ecology Club received recognition from the Prince William County Clean Community Council as the 1999 Ecology Club of the Year and earned a Blue Ribbon from the state for outstanding accomplishments.

Bel Air promotes health and fitness by offering a before school walk/ jog club.

Students receiving Title I and ESOL services are encouraged to participate in an after school homework club.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENT & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

PTA is the school's parent/teacher support group. Parents also serve on the school's Advisory Council.

Bel Air ElementaryChildren participate in service activities for the PWC Homeless Shelter, March of Dimes and Diabetes Walk. Positive behavior and achievement is recognized. Discipline is managed through an effective school-wide program. Provide enrichment with art and multicultural awareness with the end of the year art show and multicultural festival.
