Multimedia Slide Show

Students engage in a variety of learning activities not commonly practiced in the regular classroom. One of the most common instructional strategies used in SIGNET is the Independent Learning center. This strategy enhances the skills and researching methods required to be a good independent learner.  There are also Small Group Classes, which provide group oriented instructional time where students are given various topics to investigate both cooperatively and collaboratively. Finally, at the end of the day, we offer, Odyssey of the Mind type activities where students work in teams to come up with creative and unique solutions to a problem.

In this video clip, you will see a slide show of  students engaged in any one of these three instructional strategies of learning.

Interviews With Students

Gifted learners leave their regular classes once a week to attend the SIGNET program. Therefore, it is important to understand and identify the key reasons that gifted learners need a different classroom environment. This environment must foster the students' higher level thinking, intense curiosity, and desire to delve deeper into particular topics. More importantly, it provides students the opportunity to socialize with peers who learn in similar ways.

In this video clip, you will hear the responses of students who were asked the question “Why is SIGNET meaningful to you?”
