Students Entering Fifth Grade in September
Listed below are suggested authors, titles, and types of literature for the summer reading program for fourth graders moving up to fifth grade. More complete annotated lists may be accessed at the public libraries and on the Prince William County Schools website at www.pwcs.edu. River Oaks address is www.pwcs.edu/roaks/roes.htm. Copies will also be on file at Borders Books near Potomac Mills and Barnes and Noble Booksellers in Manassas. Please read at least three (3) of these or similar books and record the author, title, publishing information, and an explanation of the general topic or plot of each. Turn in the list, signed by a parent or guardian, to your fifth grade teacher the first week of school. You will receive an extra A (100) for each book completed for a total of three. This extra credit will count 10% of your grade in the first marking period. The Summer Quest form from the Prince William County Public Library may also be used as documentation of your reading. A parent or guardian should verify this reading by signing the form. Feel free to substitute other titles on your reading level which are of interest to you.
