School Characteristics

Welcome! Your child has enrolled in one of the best school divisions in the nation! You have also selected a school that prides itself in developing all individuals to become professionals and world-class learners. Take the time to read our Mission and Vision statements. These statements say it all in a nutshell.
The staff at Vaughan prides itself on providing a safe, supportive and nurturing school environment. Many of our staff members have completed post-graduate study and/or are in programs with that goal in mind. Professional growth is the mantra at Vaughan. Teachers, typically, exceed the 30 hours of training required by the superintendent.
The class size at Vaughan does not exceed local or state requirements. Class sizes in grades K-3 do not exceed 25. Staff pupil ratio is 1-20 or less. We have a full time librarian and an extensive compilation of children’s literature. Vaughan is the only school in the county that has a computer lab with an integrated learning system. Special programs include, English for Speakers of Other Languages, Special Education, Reading Remediation, Art, Music and Physical Education. We have one full time and one part-time guidance counselor. A nurse provides services to the building two days a week.
Parents are encouraged to call their child’s teacher when there are problems, concerns, or information that needs to be shared.
