Woodbine Preschool Center, located mid-county, has been used as a special education preschool since 1973. The main building contains three classrooms, a multi-purpose room, the main office, the administrator's office, the bookkeeper's office, a therapy room and an additional classroom which provides office space for the resource teachers and itinerant staff. There are two modular units on our site that accommodate offices for our speech and language pathologist, school nurse, and building manager, a small library for student and staff use, a professional library, a staff lounge, and a conference room.
The classrooms and facilities are architecturally scaled to meet the needs of young children. Each classroom is equipped with telephones and intercoms. Computers, specially designed for use by young children, are available in each classroom, along with developmentally appropriate software. Adaptive equipment, as needed, is available for student use.
A multi-purpose room allows for indoor activities which promote gross motor development, as well as positive social interactions through play. This room also serves as a dining room for breakfast and lunch. Meals are prepared at a nearby school and delivered to Woodbine daily.
Our fenced playground has 2 modular play units designed for young children. Ramps make the play units accessible for all children. The modular units also include slides, 2 tunnels, a walking bridge, sand boxes (which are each covered by a canopy), developmentally appropriate and adaptive swings, and a paved area for other activities, such as riding tricycles.
We are very proud of our school facility which we believe addresses the needs of our students in a manner which is developmentally appropriate and child-friendly. |
