PWCS Family Engagement Series

The goal of the Family Engagement Series is to provide families with multiple resources that will assist with their students’ success. The series is a collaborative effort with the Equity Department, Student Opportunity and Multilingual Services Department and other PWCS departments. The series is also supported by community and business partners.

Focus: Positive Climate and Culture: Chronic Absenteeism & Dropout Prevention: Available Resources for Families

Target Audience: All PWCS Families

7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 – Live Virtual Session

Join us on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, for a session that will focus on opportunities for re-engagement and re-enrollment in an educational program/school that meets internal and external needs. PWCS re-enrollment and registration events, will be discussed to assist families with identifying academic needs for their student(s) and possibly themselves.

Presented by Dr. Jillian O’Callaghan, administrator for dropout intervention & truancy intervention, and Dr. Tamaica Martin, supervisor of student prevention programs & family assistance with Prince William County Public Schools.

Focus: Learning & Achievement for All: Literacy and Writing Resources for Middle and High School Students

Target Audience: Families of Middle and High School Students

7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 – Live Virtual Session

Join us on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, for a session that will focus on integrating listening, speaking, reading and writing using nonfiction text in middle and high schools. Resources will be electronically provided to families to support creating written responses to text.

Presented by Gretchen Drzewucki and Ryan Holt in the PWCS Language Arts department.

Join us on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, for a session that will focus on all 2023 summer school and enrichment programs that will be available in PWCS. Registration dates and instructions will be shared along with program locations and any associated fees.
