PWCS Family Engagement Series

The Family Engagement Series provides families with resources that will assist with their student’s success. The series is led by the Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Compliance Department, in collaboration with other PWCS programs, and community and business partners.

Focus: Junior Action Plan - Post-High School Planning

Target Audience: Current 11th grade students and families

6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 – Live Virtual Session

Join us on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, for a session that will focus on an overview of action items and ways to prepare for pathways after high school.

Focus: Financial Aid Award Letter Overview

Target Audience: 12th grade students and families

6-7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 – Live Virtual Session

Join us on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, for a session that will focus on how students and families can understand the financial aid award package that is offered by their college of choice. Students and families will learn what to look for on award letters and what to be aware of when making a financial decision and commitment to college.

Join us on Thursday, April 18, 2024, for a session that will focus on strategies for setting personal and collective goals. How parents can support the development of self-management skills.

Focus: I Love Strawberries! A Sweet Author Visit with Shannon Anderson

Target Audience: Kindergarten – 5th grade students and families

6-7 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2024 – In-Person Session

Location – Haymarket Gainesville Library, 14870 Lightner Road, Haymarket, VA 20169

Join us on Monday, April 22, 2024, for an in-person session with author Shannon Anderson. The author will share her sweet story and help us learn more about agriculture, farming, and the love of reading. Participants will have the option to create a sweet strawberry-themed takeaway.

Focus: Rising Senior College Application – Common Application Overview

Target Audience: Current 11th grade students and families

6-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2024 – Live Virtual Session

Join us on Thursday, April 25, 2024, for a session that will focus on how students and families can complete the Common Application. Students and families will receive a walk-through of the common application and learn what can be done during the summer leading into senior year.
