John Wallingford named Associate Superintendent Financial and Risk Management and Security Services

Headshot of John WallingfordJohn Wallingford has been named the Associate Superintendent for Finance and Risk Management. Wallingford has served for the past 11 years as Director of Financial Services for Prince William County Public Schools. During his time in PWCS, the School Division implemented its first Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).

“I am pleased John will be stepping into this new role in serving our students, schools, and community,” said Deputy Superintendent Keith Imon. “John brings a deep understanding of Prince William County Schools and a high level of expertise in creating and managing the complexity of PWCS’ budget and finances. I know that John will be successful due to his commitment to PWCS and his spirit of collaboration and solutions-based work ethic.”

Wallingford has over 25 years of experience in local government finance including stints in both schools and city government in Virginia. Prior to Prince William, he worked at the Bureau of Business Research at the College of William and Mary where his duties included econometric forecasting and teaching in both the graduate and undergraduate schools of business. Wallingford is a past member of the Executive Board of the Virginia Government Finance Officers Association and lead the Standards Setting and Legislative Committee and the Associate Member committee.

He is a member of the Virginia Association of School Business Officials (VASBO), the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO), the Virginia Government Finance Officers Association (VGFOA), the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), and has been a member of GFOA Special Review Committee for past 8 years.

Wallingford received his Bachelor of Business Administration from James Madison University and an MBA from the Graduate School of Business at The College of William and Mary.

Wayne Mallard continues to serve as the Interim Associate Superintendent for Support Services until the role is filled.
