The Facilities department is responsible for clearing snow and treating ice at all PWCS facilities; to include parking lots, bus loops, and vehicle travel ways. We continuously work to ensure the safety of all students and staff before, during, and after inclement weather. During snow-plowing operations, this webpage provides real-time updates for each facility.
The building custodians at each facility are responsible for all associated sidewalks and walkways. Please check with the Principal or designated administrative staff at each school for the current conditions of sidewalks. We will post their information below as it becomes available.
Facilities typically starts snow-plow operations after snowfall ends, when accumulation is more than two inches. The order of the operation schedule begins with high schools, then middle schools, and finally elementary schools. The schedule will be adjusted appropriately in response to specific weather situations and/or Division needs. During ice-related weather events, the crew surveys each facility in spreader trucks, applying sand/salt product only where necessary. Please read Regulation 410.05 for further information.

Please remember to allow extra travel time, drive safely, and use caution when walking on slippery surfaces!

The following section is only visible during a weather event.
Please note that the PWCS snow removal page is NOT updated when the Facilities department is not currently snow plowing. In an effort to be efficient, the school division does not begin plowing our 100 schools and centers until the snowing stops. In addition, PWCS does not plow at night due to poor visibility and the risk of damage to equipment.
