Community Use

School staff, community groups, and outside agencies are able to request the use of building space for their events. These groups are required to pay a building rental fee. This fee may include a custodial or security fee, but never a fee for utilities. School sanctioned events are not required to pay building rental. These events should be scheduled at least two weeks in advance, per Regulation 930-1.

HVAC Scheduling

Energy Management processed 7,600 HVAC requests via SchoolDude's FSDirect in School Year 2016-17. These requests were for after hour events hosted by schools or community organizations. There are more requests for after hour HVAC use during the school year than the summer months. We have one full-time staff member dedicated to scheduling all HVAC requests. Email James Higgins at higginjh@pwcs.edu for scheduling questions.

HVAC Zones

An HVAC zone is a group of rooms in a building that can be scheduled "ON" or "OFF" as one area. Individual rooms cannot be scheduled for HVAC alone. The number of zones can vary by school, anywhere from 3-30 zones per school. Depending on the size of the zone and equipment, the average cost is around $40 an hour to run HVAC and lighting. This cost does not include costs incurred due to mechanical issues and technician hours. By communicating with school administrators and onsite SchoolDude personnel, community groups can minimize the number of zones when scheduling requests.
