Applying for School-Based Administrative Positions

Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) utilizes administrative pools to fill vacancies for all of the following positions: Administrative Intern, Assistant Principal, Principal, Director of Student Activities, and Director of School Counseling. The administrative application process includes specific screening steps: application assessment, online assessment, and in-person assessment.

Once applicants are admitted into an administrative candidate pool, they have an opportunity to apply for school openings. Vacancies are announced to candidates in the respective PWCS candidate pool. The interview process for a specific school vacancy includes a resume and cover letter screening followed by the school-community panel interview for those candidates selected due to the strength of their responses to the required cover letter criteria.

Principal vacancies are announced to PWCS principals and candidates in the PWCS principal pool. The interview process for a specific principal vacancy includes a school-community panel interview and superintendent interview.
