First Aid, CPR, and AED Training Requirement
Every person seeking initial licensure or renewal of a license shall provide evidence of completion of certification or training in emergency first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and the use of automated external defibrillators. The certification or training program shall be based on the current national evidence-based emergency cardiovascular care guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of an automated external defibrillator. A hands-on skills check is required.
You may meet the required training for initial licensure and license renewal guidelines by completing one of the following training opportunities. You are not limited to these options. Please contact the PWCS Office of Certification regarding any questions about meeting your requirement.

American Red Cross
The Red Cross offers training options ranging from $85 to $110. For more information, please visit the American Red Cross website. Make sure that you enroll in a course that contains all three components: First Aid, CPR, and AED.
PWCS Aquatics Center
Go to First Aid/CPR/AED Training for Staff for available dates and to pre-register. Payment and registration must be conducted online.
Training will run as blended offerings, with 2.5 hours of online work before the class and 1.75 hours in person. The cost is $65.
- Create an account, pay for the course online
- Registration will be monitored daily and participants will be sent an email with instructions to access the online portion of the training
- Participants will bring proof of completion of the online portion (must be completed before the in-person session) to the in-person portion of the course
- Successful participants will receive a certification from the American Red Cross in First Aid/CPR/AED

Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Online Part I (90-1401)
This course offered by the American Heart Association (AHA) can be completed along with a hands on practice option through AHA approved agencies. Cost for online training is approximately $40 and takes approximately 2-2.5 hours to complete. The additional hands-on practice sessions range in cost from $40 to $59 depending on agency selected. This will be a total cost range of $80 to $100 to complete all required components for licensure.

Please contact the authorized AHA agency of your choice to complete the hands-on practice skills assessment. Note: You will need to take the AHA online training certificate of completion with you to your hands-on skills assessment training course.
