Artificial intelligence is widely used by many people and across many industries, so it's important for all members of the PWCS community to have an understanding of what artificial intelligence (AI) means and how to help our students learn how to use this technology safely, ethically, and responsibly (Neebe, 2023). Educators and the Information and Instructional Technology Department work together to support the use of generative AI through well designed instructional activities and policies, both written and technical.
Instructional Support of Artificial Intelligence
We support the safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence by:
- Modeling and sharing safe practices around the use of AI in the classroom.
- Providing educators with resources and suggestions to help them teach about appropriate use of generative AI tools.
- Curating resources to support classroom instruction.
- Enabling high school student access to safe and secure generative AI tools, such as Canva's Magic Studio as a PWCS approved resource.
- Reviewing digital applications that use generative AI are reviewed to insure they are consistent, high quality learning resources that protect student data.
