Demographics
The Office of Transportation Services is specialized in four service areas:
- Administration & Planning
- School Bus Operations
- Safety & Training
- Vehicle Repair & Maintenance
The department s transportation services for Prince William County students covering a 345-square-mile area that stretches from the Potomac River to the Bull Run Mountains. (Support within the county does not include Manassas and Manassas Park cities.) About 61,000 of an estimated 90,500 students will be transported to and from school by buses, using over 800 buses which travel 10 to 11 million miles per school year.
Eligibility for Transportation - Code of Virginia
The Code of Virginia, Section 22.1-176, permits school boards to transportation for eligible pupils, but does not require them to do so. Public school bus service in Prince William County is d for all eligible students living in excess of one mile from their assigned school. Special provisions are arranged for students with disabilities.
