About Dr. Jarcelynn M. Hart
Dr. Jarcelynn M. Hart was appointed to serve as the new Associate Superintendent for Western Elementary Schools effective July 2011. Prior to her appointment, she was the principal of Rosa Parks Elementary School in Woodbridge since its opening in 2006. Dr. Hart also has experience as a professional development specialist, elementary assistant principal, and classroom teacher.
She earned her Bachelor of Sociology and Elementary Education degree and her Master of Elementary Education and Deaf Education degree from Western Maryland College. Dr. Hart also has a Master of Education degree in Curriculum, Supervision, and Leadership from George Mason University and her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from The George Washington University.
Describing Dr. Hart's leadership qualities, one of her teachers said to her, "You are so amazing! You are the picture of excellent leadership. You lift teachers and students alike to strive for their best. Everyone feels so appreciated by you." Dr. Hart is a past winner of the Washington Post Distinguished Educational Leadership Award.
