Superintendent's

Dr.
Steven
L.
Walts,
Superintendent
of
Schools,
made
the
following
announcements:
-
Victory
Elementary
School
has
been
newly
recognized
by
the
Virginia
Board
of
Education
for
academic
progress.
Victory
received
the
Distinguished
Achievement
Award
in
the
Virginia
Index
of
Performance
incentive
program.
-
Fred
M.
Lynn
Middle
School
has
been
designated
as
Partially
Accredited:
Reconstituted.
Its
accreditation
status
had
been
on
hold
since
the
Virginia
Department
of
Education
announced
other
schools'
status
in
September.
Fred
Lynn's
new
partial
accreditation
reflects
the
ongoing
work
of
teachers,
staff,
administrators,
and
community
members
that
has
been
highlighted
at
School
Board
meetings
for
several
months.
-
Prince
William
County
Public
Schools
was
honored
for
energy
savings,
with
first
place
in
the
academic
category
of
the
Virginia
Energy
Efficiency
Leadership
Awards.
Since
2012,
efforts
led
by
our
Energy
Management
Team
have
helped
the
Division
avoid
more
than
$25
million
in
utility
expenses
through
efficiency
improvement
and
by
creating
a
culture
of
conservation
among
staff
and
students.
That
means
money
can
go
to
education
instead
of
energy.
Congratulations
to
our
Energy
Team,
led
by
administrative
coordinator
Brian
Gorham
and
Facilities
Services
Director
John
Windley.
And
to
the
schools,
offices,
and
people
who
helped
generate
the
savings.
-
Patriot
Teacher
Jarrod
Haselbauer
has
earned
recognition
as
a
Master
Teacher
for
the
Project
Lead
the
Way
engineering
program.
-
Reagan
Middle
School
athletics
coordinator
Jonathan
Bukva
has
met
the
rigorous
criteria
of
the
National
Interscholastic
Athletic
Administrators
Association.
He
is
now
a
Certified
Athletic
Administrator.
-
There
will
be
one
additional
School
Board
meeting
in
November,
on
Wednesday,
November
29.
And
there
is
only
one
December
meeting,
on
the
13th.
These
dates
show
in
our
online
calendars.
I
mention
this
because
they
differ
from
what's
in
the
printed
Elementary
and
Middle
School
Guide
and
Calendar.
That
publication
went
to
press
before
the
change
from
the
usual
first
and
third
Wednesday
schedule
had
been
finalized.
-
Congratulations
to
the
newly
elected
members
of
our
state
legislative
delegation.
I
thank
the
departing
incumbents
for
their
dedicated
service.
We
will
be
meeting
with
both
incumbents
and
newly
elected
legislators
at
the
Division's
legislative
breakfast
on
Monday,
November
20.
-
And
in
conclusion,
I
wish
everyone
a
happy
and
safe
