    Student Representative Matters:

    • School start times
    • Dress code

    Superintendent's Time:

    • I want to begin by acknowledging that the Virginia School Boards Association has designated this week as School Board Clerk Appreciation Week. I want to echo the sentiments of our School Board in thanking B Simpson, our School Board Clerk, and Brandy Reeves, our Deputy Clerk, for their outstanding support of our School Board and Prince William County Public Schools. Thank you so much.
    • February is Career and Technology Education (CTE) Month. PWCS offers a wide variety of rigorous and engaging CTE programs designed to improve academic and technical understanding, offer leadership opportunities, and deliver instruction through realistic, hands-on applications. CTE instruction demonstrates the relevance and purpose in learning as students prepare for post-secondary experiences, whether they plan to enter the workforce directly, seek additional training, or enroll in a post-secondary institution.
    • Our Learning and Achievement for All strategic commitment includes the goal of having at least 1,000 CTE students graduate high school with a minimum of six CTE dual enrollment credits by 2025.
    • In observance of CTE month, I would like to share a brief video highlighting one of our newest CTE programs, aviation maintenance offered at Unity Reed and Woodbridge High School. I'd like to ask our Tech team at this time to please run video (view video).
    • I look forward to witnessing how our expansion of students seeking opportunities through our CTE programs will positively benefit our students and their future aspirations. Please also watch our social media,, and The Scoop! Newsletter for features highlighting our outstanding CTE programs.
    • In connection with our strategic commitment of Family and Community Engagement, I would like to encourage our parents and guardians to register for the Parents as Partners in Special Education event scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, at Charles J. Colgan Sr. High School. This event is designed to empower parents, prekindergarten through 12th grade, to advocate for their child and navigate Section 504 or special education processes to ensure successful outcomes. The event includes online resources, pre-recorded and live virtual presentations, and a live and in-person conference with parent networking opportunities. To find out more information please visit and click on the Parents link.
    • I would like to thank our community for their support as we have worked together to ensure in-person instruction for our students from the first day of school as safely as possible.
    • We are aware that the Virginia General Assembly has passed, and the Governor has signed SB-739, that permits optional masking for students while on school property.
    • As such, PWCS is currently reviewing and revising practices to comply with the new state law as required. And as always, changes to our mitigation strategies will be made thoughtfully with the safety, health, and instructional needs of our students and staff at the forefront, while ensuring a smooth transition as we implement any new practices.
    • Detailed guidance that outlines all changes to our mitigation strategies will be shared with families and employees on Friday evening.
    • Mr. Chairman, this concludes our regular Superintendent's Report. We will now transition into the Second Quarter 2021-22 Data Update (PDF).
