One World, a nonprofit organization formed by PWCS students and in partnership with SPARK, the education foundation for PWCS, is hosting the first One World Gala from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at the Edward L. Kelly Leadership Center.
The student-led organization works to impact local and global communities. This past summer, One World held the first science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) camp for 30 students at Neabsco Elementary School. Now, they are fundraising to provide technology to an all-girls school in a low-income area of Chennai, India and continue their goal to bring STEAM opportunities to all students.
Event attendees will see first-hand what One World has accomplished thus far and will be able to contribute to future efforts. Tickets can be purchased online.
One World was founded in 2018 by PWCS high school juniors, Shan Lateef, Paul David Quimby, Sofia Quint, Leena Sherdil, Mason Simms, and Delaney Walts, to teach, engage, and inspire youth and expose them to opportunities in STEAM fields. Through local summer camps, seminars, and conferences, the group hopes to inform students that they have the potential to be creative innovators, problem solvers, and researchers who can make an impact on the world.
