In
light
of
the
recent
closures
due
to
the
COVID-19
virus,
Prince
William
County
Public
Schools
(PWCS)
is
frequently
reviewing
updated
information
from
multiple
sources
and
making
plans
for
the
beginning
of
the
2020-21
school
year,
which
begins
on
August
25.
Several
PWCS
staff
members
are
participating
in
the
Virginia
Department
of
Education
(VDOE)
"Return
to
Schooling
CVD19
Recovery
Task
Force,"
and
Dr.
Tim
Healey,
principal
of
Charles
J.
Colgan
Sr.
High
School,
has
been
asked
to
serve
on
the
VDOE
accreditation
task
force.
The
State
Superintendent
and
the
U.S.
Department
of
Education
have
made
it
clear
that
they
expect
required
learning
to
be
supported
for
all
students
this
fall,
even
in
remote
settings.
PWCS
is
committed
to
supporting
remote
learning
next
school
year,
developing
plans
to
secure
additional
digital
devices
for
students,
and
adopting
the
Canvas
Learning
Management
System
to
make
it
much
simpler
for
students
and
parents
at
home
to
go
to
a
single
place
for
all
of
their
learning.
PWCS
will
continue
to
monitor
this
evolving
situation,
will
adjust
plans
for
next
year
accordingly,
and
share
those
plans
with
students,
staff
members
and
parents
when
available.
