Come study with other adults to achieve your career and life goals. PWCS Adult Education virtual classes begin the week of September 21, 2020. Adult Education classes are for those who live in Prince William County, Manassas City, and Manassas Park.

Classes:
The below virtual online classes are scheduled for three or four times per week during the following time slots. Students choose one time slot per class:
  • 9 to 11:30 a.m.
  • 1 to 3:30 p.m.
  • 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Adult Basic Education (ABE) or Pre-GED® preparation classes are for individuals 18 years of age and older and whose basic reading, math, and/or writing skills are below the ninth-grade level of achievement. Classes meet Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from September 21 to November 4, 2020, or October 19 to December 9, 2020. Cost: $100 for 60 hours of virtual instruction.

Bridging classes are for those individuals 18 years of age and older who want to continue with their education beyond high school completion, or who want to prepare to enter the workforce. These classes will focus on students' goals and will help students to understand their own career interests and skills needed to self-assess, plan, prepare, and enter a career that is personally and financially fulfilling. Classes are co-taught by high school completion and English language learning instructors. Virtual classes will meet on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 6 to 8:30 p.m. from October 19 to December 9, 2020. Cost: $100 for 60 hours of virtual instruction.

GED® preparation classes are for individuals 18 years of age and older with reading, math, and/or writing skills at the ninth-grade level or above, who need instruction in all four subject areas of the GED® Test or who want to improve their reading, writing, math, social studies and science skills. Classes meet Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from September 21 to November 4, 2020, or October 19 to December 9, 2020. Cost: $100 for 60 hours of virtual instruction.

GED® Math/Science classes are for individuals 18 years of age or older who need to pass only the math and/or science portions of the GED® Test or who want to improve their math and science skills. These classes meet Tuesday and Thursday from September 22 to October 29, 2020, or October 20 to December 8, 2020. Cost: $50 for 30 hours of virtual instruction.

GED® Language Arts/Social Studies classes are for individuals 18 years of age or older who need to pass only the language arts and/or social studies portions of the GED® Test or who want to improve their reading, writing, and social studies skills. These classes meet Monday and Wednesday from September 21 to November 4, 2020, or October 19 to December 9, 2020. Cost: $50 for 30 hours of virtual instruction.

GED® Distance Education is for individuals 18 years of age or older who want to study from a computer with internet access while a teacher provides individualized instruction. Individuals pay $30 for 30 days of unlimited access. Fees are payable by credit/debit card, cashier's check, or money order. Interested students must attend a virtual information session prior to enrolling in this program. Call the Adult Education Office at 703-791-7357 for information session dates and times.

English language learning classes are for individuals 18 years of age and older who speak a native language other than English. Virtual classes are offered for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students. Classes held three times per week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from September 22 to November 18, 2020. Classes held four times per week meet on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from October 19 to December 9, 2020. Cost: $100 for 60 hours of virtual instruction.

Digital Literacy classes are for individuals 18 years of age and older who want to improve basic computer skills. Topics include World Wide Web, computer operating systems (Windows), using email, Microsoft Office essentials, social media, and information literacy. Virtual classes meet three times per week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 6 to 8:30 p.m., from September 22 to November 18, 2020. Virtual classes meet four times per week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 6 to 8:30 p.m. from October 13 to December 16. 2020. Cost: $100 for 60 hours of virtual instruction.

Skills for Life and Work classes are for individuals 18 years of age and older who are interested in job advancement, access to higher education, and improvement of technological skills. This class will enhance critical thinking skills needed for increased employability, community engagement, and academic advancement. Instruction will include skill building, digital literacy, and problem-solving strategies to increase life and work opportunities. Virtual classes will meet Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 6 to 8:30 p.m., from September 22 to November 18, 2020. Cost: $100 for 60 hours of virtual instruction.
