Graduate holding diploma with thumbs upIf getting a high school diploma is one of your goals, but work or other schedule conflicts prevent regular time in the classroom, the National External Diploma Program (NEDP) or the GED® Distance Education Program, offered through the PWCS Office of Adult Education, may be for you. Call the PWCS Office of Adult Education at 703-791-7357 to sign up for one of the information sessions being held throughout the summer and find out what they have to offer you.
  • In the GED® Distance Education program, students register for 30 days of GED test preparation practice via computerized instruction that is monitored by a teacher and may be renewed on a monthly basis. The program can be accessed at any time, day or night, so it is great for those who have children or work schedules that keep them from joining scheduled GED classes. Once you pass the GED Test, you receive a GED Certificate, which is accepted by most colleges and institutions of higher learning as well as by many business employers. Attend one of the required information sessions below to learn how the program works and other important details needed to access the program.

  • Information sessions for the GED® Distance Education will meet virtually on the following times and dates:
    • 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 2021
    • 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021
    • 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2021

  • Students who successfully complete the NEDP, earn a standard high school diploma through the Office of Adult Education. The NEDP takes students an average of six months to a year to complete. Before registering for the NEDP, prospective students must attend an information session to hear how the program works and achieve a qualifying score on a test to determine if they are a fit for this program. Once registered, a student's progress through the program is assessed by periodic meetings with an advisor who is willing to connect on a schedule that accommodates working adults. Students who successfully complete the program are awarded with a diploma. A diploma received through completion of NEDP is recognized by most colleges and institutions of higher learning and by most business employers.

Information sessions for NEDP will meet virtually at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on the following Mondays:
    • July 12, 2021
    • August 9, 2021
    • September 13, 2021
