School counselors from Minnieville and Sinclair Elementary Schools

The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) has selected Minnieville and Sinclair Elementary Schools as two of 69 schools nationwide to receive the 2022 Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) designation. With this award, the ASCA) recognizes schools that are committed to delivering a data-informed school counseling program and an exemplary educational environment.

"The ASCA RAMP designation means that counselors have collaborated with stakeholders to plan, deliver, and evaluate a data-driven, comprehensive school counseling program of excellence," shared Anne Henry, PWCS supervisor of elementary school counseling and related services. "In Prince William County, we encourage the journey to a RAMP designation, as it truly benefits our students."

Jill Cook, ASCA executive director, commended this year's RAMP honorees and said, "These schools used data to drive their program development and implementation so all students can achieve success. RAMP designation distinguishes these schools and encourages school counselors nationwide to strive for excellence."

The RAMP designation is good for five years, after which schools must reapply to maintain their RAMP status. Sinclair Elementary earned its Re-RAMP status with this year's honor.

"By repeatedly engaging in the RAMP application process, the Sinclair Elementary counseling team has shown a decade-long commitment to the continuous improvement of their school counseling program," explained Henry. "Year after year, they've examined their data and designed interventions to creatively meet the needs of their students."

Minnieville and Sinclair will be honored during a special ceremony at the American School Counselor Association's Annual Conference being held in Austin, Texas in July.
