Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) recently sent a record six projects to the 2022 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). Four of those projects then placed or earned a special award.

"The outstanding performance of our students at the 2022 Virginia State and the International Science and Engineering Fairs demonstrates the division's unwavering commitment to scholarly excellence," said Julia Renberg, supervisor of science and family life education in PWCS. "The results of this year are unprecedented, and the hard work of our students is evident in the quality of their project outcomes. My deepest appreciation goes to those who supported our young scientists on this journey."

Congratulations to the following PWCS students for their recognition at the 2022 ISEF.

Placements:

Biomedical and Health Sciences, third-place award of $1,000
Tony Bright, Arman Lateef, Gabriel Ralston, Charles J. Colgan Sr. High School and The Governor's School at Innovation Park, Concussion Recovery in Youth Optimized using a Comprehensive App-based Program (CRYO CAP)

Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, fourth-place award of $500
Ebru Ayyorgun, Battlefield High School, A Novel Visualization Tool: Application to RNA-Sequence Classification

Earth and Environmental Sciences, fourth-place award of $500
Desmen Boykin, Forest Park High School and The Governor's School at Innovation Park, The Effect of Casein Polymers on the Filtration of Heavy Metals and Containments in Well Water

Special Awards:

Air Force Research Laboratory on behalf of the United States Air Force, first-place award of $750 in each Regeneron ISEF category
