At the close of business on September 16, the Virginia Department of Education released its revised “2022 Model Policies (PDF)” regarding the treatment of transgender students for public comment. At the closure of public comment last week, the Virginia Department of Education announced it would need until at least November 26, 2022, to review the comments and may make further changes to the model polices.

PWCS will await any further guidance from the state before evaluating the new model policies and will be diligent in determining whether any changes to School Board policies or regulations may be needed to remain in compliance with state and federal law. Until such time as PWCS policies and regulations are updated, PWCS continues to adhere to its nondiscrimination and harassment policies and regulations.
