The Prince William County Human Rights Commission, in partnership with Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS), has announced the 2024-25 Cohort 9 Human Rights Student Leadership Council (HRSLC). This cohort is the largest to date, with 72 PWCS high school students selected to serve on the Council. Among them, six students have been chosen as Human Rights Student Leadership Council ambassadors. These ambassadors are former HRSLC members who will support the incoming cohort throughout the school year.

The HRSLC is offered to current high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors in public, private, and home school communities within Prince William County. The council helps develop young leaders, while also delving into human rights, civil rights, and anti-discrimination laws. Through the HRSLC, students can collaborate with local government, thereby raising community awareness and ensuring the voices of our future leaders are heard and respected. The theme for this year is, “Emerging Leaders in Human Rights.”
